Why should we learn about spirituality?
We are not merely flesh and bone. We are beings of pure energy.
In its highest state the soul is one with the Universe, resting in infinite love and bliss, boundless and free. But when that soul takes form, as a human, a planet or any other object in creation, it becomes bound by time, space and circumstance. Deep down it still longs for the peace and bliss it once knew, because its true nature is infinity itself. Yet the ego, the mind and the five senses distract and drain this divine energy, spending it on desires that never truly satisfy.
The higher science
In the material world we study subjects like engineering, medicine or law to make a living. Spirituality is the higher science: the art of managing the ego, the body and the mind. It reveals our true potential and answers the timeless question, Who am I? It shows that when the body is still and the mind is quiet, consciousness expands. It grows from the space inside your home to the garden, to the Earth and beyond, until it holds the entire Universe.
Before learning to navigate the outer world, every person should first attend the school of the spirit and discover who they truly are. Closing the eyes and beholding the Divine Star Light within is the first step. That inner light becomes the Guru within, a lamp that guides us through the dark and dense forest of earthly life. Without it we wander aimlessly, never knowing our true purpose, until our time runs out and the opportunity is lost.
What it gives you
The power of spirituality is beyond measure. When you are worn out, you can draw energy directly from the Universe, like a phone charging at its source. When you long for bliss, you can immerse yourself in the sacred sound of Shabad Kirtan or bhajans and feel every cell of your body vibrate with joy. When you seek oneness, you can still the mind and let consciousness expand beyond time and space, touching the infinite.
What material possession can give you this much peace, happiness and bliss, without costing a single cent? All of it is already within you, powered by your own soul. That is the magic of spirituality.
For me, the art of living is to enjoy both the spiritual and the material worlds and to walk between them with mastery and balance: to explore the realms of the Universe, to dissolve into oneness, and to fulfil the true purpose of coming to Earth. In this awakened state the Higher Self becomes the master of the ego and the mind. The five senses no longer rule us. Pain and suffering fade, fear dissolves, and trust, courage and confidence rise like a new dawn.
In that moment you realize: I am powered by the same light that powers the Universe. I am the Divine. I am God.
