( Reflection 03 )
What is the purpose of life, and why are we on Earth?
Earth is a school for the soul. It is a classroom where we learn, grow and widen our awareness. The final purpose is to wake up to the True Self and find the timeless answer to one question: Who am I?
The soul's awareness can rest at any of seven stages. The seven chakras mark that journey, and each stage comes with its own desires and its own lessons.
- Mooladhara, the Root. The desire for survival, security and basic needs.
- Svadishthana, the Sacral. The desire for pleasure, relationships and creative expression.
- Manipura, the Solar Plexus. The desire for power, control and self-assertion.
- Anahata, the Heart. The desire for love, compassion and service to others.
- Vishuddha, the Throat. The desire for truth, self-expression and sharing higher wisdom.
- Ajna, the Third Eye. The desire for clarity, intuition and spiritual insight.
- Sahasrara, the Crown. The desire for union with the Divine and freedom from the cycle of birth and death.
Life after life, the soul climbs these stages. Lower desires slowly turn into higher virtues, until the soul dissolves into the bliss of universal consciousness.
Earth offers the right balance of material and spiritual opportunity. It is the place where this climb can happen.
